Big O's is a great find in Stephenville, TX. The menu consists of many types of lunch sandwiches, gyros, and pitas, with a large variety of "insides" from which to build a lunch. There's no sides, such as potato salad, but a selection of chips.
I topped it off with a well made coconut and pecan cookie.
My favorite restaurant in Stephenville! Food is always tasty and on the healthy side, the menu is consistent - my favorites are the chicken salad (sandwich or salad), the spicy beef gyro (the best deal) and the cream of mushroom soup. Be prepared to spend $10 or $12 for a delicious lunch with a drink and dessert. So glad they expanded recently, lots more room now. Also, buy your wedding cake from Sherry! She did our wedding cake and cupcakes earlier this month and they were delicious, mouth watering, and looked great - a hit! and easy on the budget. Plus she is just a super nice and accommodating.
For Stephenville, the sandwiches don't get much better.
Big O’s Simply Deli has no equal in the Stephenville area. The food is hot, fresh, and tasty. No chicken-fried steak on the menu, but who would want it when there is so much else to order? Great salads and sandwiches, excellent gyros, and the bulgogi is delicious. Wonderful soups, especially the lobster bisque (!) on Thursday. Finish with a homemade dessert crepe, a fresh cookie, or a scoop of gelato.
All the soups had a wonderful aroma and taste, and were definitely NOT from a can.
Very friendly service and delicious food! Highly recommend the beef gyro, Big O grilled cheese or bulgogi. Will definitely be back!
I chose the reuben, which came with a little dijon mustard instead of the 1,000 island dressing, on a lightly toasted rye. I didn't miss the dressing, but enjoyed the tasty meat and 'kraut.
A sandwich can be halved with a delicious soup. I sampled them all, tomato basil, potato, cream of mushroom (my favorite), and chicken florentine.
Located right across Washington Street from Tarleton State University, this deli/diner/bakery packs ‘em in at lunchtime. They recently expanded into the next mall space, so you’re no longer rubbing elbows with customers at neighboring tables. The proprietor is friendly and helps you select from choices never seen in Dairy Queen. You cannot go wrong. Enjoy!
The owner has been such a delight every time Ive came in. He is happy to give out samples and will suggest food as well. I brought my parents and they were BLOWN AWAY. Amazing quality of food, always fresh, always polite. My mother had the chicken salad which she loved. My father and I had the lamb gyro. The best gyros we've ever had! I rave about Big O's now and I promise you Im not being dramatic. It is That good!
My only drawback is the bottled water, instead of tap water. I'd like to have a glass of water with my meal, not drink out of a plastic bottle.
