Update: The day I posted the review above (it is now August 18th), I received a call from a manager at Leland's/Stallion carports. He wanted to know how he could "make this right." I told him to just give me a date and time of installation so I could take the day off of work and know when I could expect delivery. He told me they would have it done today (August 18) and would come between 1 and 3 p.m. So I took the afternoon off and waited...and waited...and, well, you get the picture. No one showed up...no one called me, no text message, nothing! I just wasted half a day off (which I am sure they won't reimburse me for). Now it's been over 6 weeks since I made my original down payment of almost $3,000 on the buildings (1/2 down) and spent another $3,000 getting a slab poured to put the building on, and I still don't have my buildings. Truly unbelievable (but it's true)! I cannot imagine how a company that treats its customers like this could possibly stay in business in Texas.
When I went back in to pay I had to order a smaller carport than I had originally planned because of the "misquote." I have called Leland's at least 7 times in the last 2-3 weeks to get a firm build date, and no one has called me back to schedule the installation. It's August 10th, almost 5 weeks now (in week 5), and all I get is, "someone will call you back." I would give 1 star, but I'm still trying to give the benefit of the doubt to this recommended company.
The install crew did finally show up at 5p.m. on the right day (2 hours late) and got right to it. The manager of Stallion carports called me back after I texted Leland's, and said I was scheduled from 3-6 (which was not true because I wrote down what he originally told me last week), and then said he didn't want to argue with me about it. So I will say that when I contacted Leland's, they called Stallion carports right away, every time. Why I was having to initiate all the calls is beyond me. I would say poor communication with the customer is the biggest problem with these two companies.
I was told 4 to 5 weeks until they would install my carport and shed (2 buildings) on July 6th. Then they gladly took the 1/2 down payment, and then no contact except an e-mailed receipt a week later. They also misquoted me over 500 dollars less originally (bait and switch) when I originally went to the business.
