I have eaten here twice now, both in the dining room and at the bar. Both times the service was sub-par. I tried a burger the first time with sweet potatoes fries and found them both very lacking in seasoning and preparation. Tonight I tried the avocado fries, sprouts and the grilles romaine. The sprouts were the only thing worth eating. My friend had the "Thai Burger" which boasted a turkey patty. The turkey patty was dry, and obviously frozen. The "Thai" sauce was an overly sweet, not at all spicy blend of an over the counter type hot sauce and mayo. The avocado fries were not seasoned at all. The Brussels sprouts were very tasty. Unfortunately I feel that this place could use a new chef.

Stopped in here to eat on family weekend. The place was busy and the whole outside patio was open but it looked like certain people were only allowed in there. The family of 5 in front of us apparently knew the greeter and chatted with her. She was all smiles and accommodating to them and I heard her say let me find y'all a table, we're full up but I can find you a spot. She came to us, party of 6 and didn't even ask what size and immediately said we don't have any more open tables and the patio is reserved for a private party and the people at the tables aren't leaving for a while because they plan to watch the football games on TV and anyone else's table is going to be here a while. I said well ok then. She said nothing else. We left.

My biggest fear with all the hype of this anticipated new place was that it was going to turn into The Agave with mediocre food and horrendous service. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened. When I called to make a reservation I was told I had to call over to The Agave to do so, which makes no sense whatsoever. Then, when I finally made one after jumping through hoops and dealing with inexperienced unhelpful staff, our reservation was "non-existent" when we arrived at The Purple Goat. The hostess was about a 2 on the friendly scale with 10 being the very friendly. Reservation was nowhere to be found, and she was extremely unhelpful and unsympathetic. After finally getting us seated (by now my party and I felt like we were putting them out), it seemed like forever and a day before we ever got drinks. Refills were super slow, including beer which we began ordering 3 at a time to avoid the lag. Food came out in long waves leaving half our table finished with their meal while the other half was still waiting on theirs. When my salad arrived it was warm. Not slightly cool, but warm. Gross. I will say the atmosphere is very cool and the menu is very eclectic, but the execution is extremely poor. Wish this place was as cool as it could be.

Now if family weekend is a guaranteed thing why would you let a sorority book a whole patio and allow your staff to turn paying customers away because everyone is settled for the afternoon?? It really felt like if you aren't one of us and we don't know you, tough luck. I went there for the first time because my daughter raved about this place. But being treated like we weren't good enough to be in the building, I don't plan to return. Good luck with the hospitality at the door, it leaves a lot to be desired. I have to say we went to the Agave across the way and they seated us right away with no crowds. The hospitality at the agave was phenomenal - what the heck happened 50 yards away???

Stopped in for lunch earlier this week with a friend and was pleased with the overall experience. Grabbed the Ville burger and hand cut fries and was pleased to see a real burger served in Stephenville. Everything about the burger was great! Toasted bun, thick and juicy beef patty and veggies that were fresh and crisp. The service as quick, extremely friendly and hard working and took note that I was at lunch from work, dropping my check of with my meal so I would not be held up waiting to pay.

This place is amazing! If you love country cooking you will for sure love this place! I recommend the fried avocados with jalapeno ranch is so awesome! They have wonderful service too!
